I wish the club would stop trying to push the ladies team, no one gives a fuck.

I wish the BBC would stop it too. This morning they talked about men's rugby then show a women's international clip with no-one in the stands. It's equality but no-one is fucking interested!

Yet lots of massive spectator sports hardly ever get a mention because they aren't fashionable or interesting to the BAME or LGBT production team.

How about when the club sent a mail shot offering the opportunity to meet 'three club legends' at a club store signing, and the legends were Anderson, Diop and Julia Simic.

Isaac. The third was Adrian not Simic. Then they had two women as well as the three men. No idea who the women were though.

Really don’t see what harm it does to try and open women’s sport to more people by having it piggyback on the men’s game. Women’s sport can’t develop unless the profile is raised and that’s not a bad thing. In fact WHU should try once a season or so having a woman’s team game in the stadium ahead of a first team game. I’m sure a fair amount of people would go over early and watch. The most successful sports featuring women are where there’s a mix with the men- athletics/multi sport events and tennis.

If it gets more kids of either sex active and running about it can only be good.

I do not see the problem with promoting the Women's team at all.

If I have kids and I have a girl I am sure I will be taking her to watch both the West Ham women and mens team.

Nothing wrong with giving young girls who like football a hero that they can relate to.

I actually think its fucking brilliant and good luck to them.

I have no problem with women’s team at all. Wish them luck.

But I am so fucking sick of the club and the media in general disguising the women’s team as the men’s team to get you to click on it. “West Ham beat Man City 7-0”. That sort of thing. And having to see equal amount of
Stories in the mews feeds about the women’s team when the actual interest is minuscule compared to the men’s.

No problem if it was the other way around and the women’s team were the main show but at the moment they ain’t. Stop trying to pretend otherwise and tricking people into clicking the links.

You don't have to read those stories though right Wils?

I mean, I'm sure you know that already, but just in case.

As Fonz and Scorchio say, anything that promotes activity and role models for girls can ONLY be a good thing.

I am still genuinely amazed at the amount of opposition to it being promoted.

Some of you blokes are still in the dark ages.

The standard is appalling that's what gets me. If you take womens tennis or athletics it's a very good standard and very watchable if you like those sports and gets great TV / media coverage as it should.

But the BBC etc try to make out womens football is great and say great pass or goal when a top Sunday u11 side play better football.

I have no problems with women's football. It's the way they purposefully put ambiguous articles where it's not immediately obvious whether they are about the men's or the women's team that I object too. There is no way to filter it out as they don't want you to do that.

I don't want to spend an extra few seconds trying to work out which team they are referring to before deciding if I am interested in reading it.

It's a dishonest way to promote the sport.

Lomas so anyone that has no interest in women's football is in the dark ages, righto you fucking snowflake, let them get on with it but stop ramming it down our throats

You'd know that if you lived over here, seeing as you don't stick to time trials on sheep rearing

i dont watch womens football as its poor.
I dont watch womens rugby as its poor
I dont watch womens cricket as its poor
I dont watch womens boxing as its poor

Dont get me wrong its great that they compete in these sports, its just not at a level I am interested in. I have the power to switch over.

A couple of yrs ago my father in laws academy under 18’s beat the england womans team 7-2.

Some of the under 18’s were 16/17.

Standard of womans football is appalling...

I get what you are saying; but what is the expectancy level?

Is there an expectancy that international woman players should be better than under 18's boys side? If so, where does that expectancy come from.

16 / 17 year old boys are fast, powerful and aggressive so how can women compete with that?

So you say its appalling but are you comparing like for like? I don't think you are. I just can't see how you can compare men and woman at anything to do with sport.

penners28 12:42 Mon Mar 11
Re: West Ham women react to “sexist” tweets.
Russ, we are constantly told that men and woman are equal. As a result I dont see an issue making comparisons between men and womans football. In fact, im just going to call it “football”.

How long before the “woman” is dropped from womans football as it assumes that mens football is the default?

The wages debate has proper started in the US now with the womans team taking legal action, and our very own KARREN blocked me on twitter when I asked why she was championing equal pay but pays the womans full time west ham players less than the mens.

I cant wait until semi pro mens players are allowed to assume the gender of a female and start playing for them

I would imagine clubs would disband the Womens team if the wage issue was pushed .
